Within both posts are massive amounts of email addresses and organizations that we can all spend 5 mins a day contacting. This isn't "my idea", I'm just repeating it.
Please note that the following is meant with no offense to anyone, it is more my brainstorming how to "exploit the system" to our advantage. No matter what you say about american society, it is still a racially discriminatory one. People find the subject of immigration distasteful since a lot of immigrants (legal or otherwise) don't look like them. If they see the diversity of people in their face, it might chip away at the bias.
Why am I doing this? I've been fairly vocal criticizing the lack of diversity on this board. It was pointed out that other nationalities pick up the pace, so here I am :)
With some irony, I spent a chunk of time searching last night for associations in the states that are from my nationality background (don't hate me, I'm English). All I could find are associations regarding livestock (cows) and golf.... Gotta dig deeper!

Didn't the last recapture of visas (AC21) happen in 2000, an election year ? Also H1B law was modified to include 20000 visas for US Masters students during 2004. Actually, history is in our favor.
I was about the say the same thing. I still remember vividly when the 20k new H1B was made available and the nervous waiting for that to be implemented back then. Whew, can't believe it's been 4 years an I am still stuck in this same old waiting game.

Individual cases and problems are best discussed on forums like Immigration Portal. You are sure to find help and advice there.

The members-only forums - now those, I agree - mainly ideas, activities etc. (Personally, I find it very difficult to stay tuned to 3 or 4 different immigration web sites/forums).
vnsriniv, to answer your question - to the best of my knowledge, you will have to wait till the dates become current - the current processing dates of the service centers don't mean much - there are several cases of 485 approvals of petitions with PDs > cut-off dates based on other posts on this board.

I read some where that filing is allowed to Aug-17, but the new fees will effected on 01-Aug although July filers.

We know IV has set policies about postings, but i have to agree with Jnayar here. It is really a waste of time and counterproductive for individuals to be on 2-3 different forums. Especially when the creme-de-la-creme is on this one. If our motive is to draw people to Immigration Voice, then it would be better if the community could help each other out. We have about 4 sections in the forum already. Cant we have a fifth one for "Personal Issues with Green cards". When you say, ranting etc is wrong i agree, but it would be kinda nice to allow people to post their issues that are hard to find on other forums. I mean at max, some people will read the issues and not post a reply, but if someone DOES have an answer, it would make life easier on the person that posted the question. From my personal experience, i used to visit the ImmigrationPortal religiously during the past year. Now i have not once stepped onto that forum, coz most of my needs regarding information are met here. We have a strong, vast and diverse community on here and we can help each other out, being that most Immigration Lawyers are not very prompt in answering our questions. You guys have been doing a great job moderating this forum, but we need to have a seperate category for these extra issues.

my understanding was that in this case you would not do a concurrent filing. You would file the I-140 requesting PD recapture. Once the I-140 was approved, and your PD-recapture also approved, at that point your new PD is confirmed and thats what allows you to file the I-485.
My earlier post had misleading information. I filed my I-140 in Feb'08 and I-485 in June'08. I didn't file my I-140/485 concurrently. I-140 is still pending and in my application PD transfer was requested.

Basic purpose of our forum is to create awareness/educate legal Immigrants so that they can get help for there cause at the same time we get some help from them to push forward this movement. Recently we are seeing big inflow of queries because economy is bad our brother and sisters getting in deep trouble.
How we can voice our concern in this bad time key is to find the solution.
My thoughts on this................
1) Get the help from our Indian/Chinese community on all levels like city, state and national level.
2) We will run advertisement campaign about, who we are and where we stand. This adv. could be air on Lue's show or even on other popular shows...
3) We need lobbying in congress .I know we have this in this place but we can show our strength through legal Indian/Chinese Immigrant plus Indian/Chinese American citizen then we got big weight in our plate.
4) To get all of the above and may be more we need Money and Man power to execute this.

I am in a similar situation. But my employer previous employer says he would file for 485 only if I return to my old company.

Hi All,
Need help to determine what should I do.
I stayed in India for a month but since my application did not clear, I entered USA on AP because my boss was getting mad that I had to extend my vacation and I did not want to risk losing my job.
Mumbai consulate has now sent me an email saying that admin processing has been completed (after more than 60 days ) and are asking me to submit my passport. BTW, the DOS in DC still says my app is pending admin processing.
I am in USA now as a parolee. Should I go ahead and send my passport to India and get it stamped and have it sent back to USA through a friend.
Please advise.

...On another level, the structure brought back childhood memories of my grandparents' farmhouse.
On yet another level, I was facinated by all the small details - mortar, wrought iron fence, and the leaves turning colors.
Generally, these sorts of images are what I connect with, the ones that I can't quite (or at least instantly) figure out what I'm looking at. Is this a wall, a sculpture, are those windows or doorways am I inside looking out or outside looking in.
It's also worth noting that there is no trace of the "rule of thirds" in that image...

Thx for the feedback. As I read through your self-critique, I kept saying to myself, "Yah! that's it!" Good shot, good eye for the right stuff.
As to Steve's comment on the dandelion....Sorry, Steve, I gotta disagree. Instead of a full frame of the dandelion I rather like the cut-off edges. What makes this one for me is that (at first glance) it's not necessarily a dandelion, but could be a firework sparkler or fireflies between the camera and the “brown something” in the center. I like photos that redefine themselves the more you look at them. Another aspect of the less-than-full-frame that appeals to me; It reminds me of a somewhat famous painting.
Remember the Norman Rockwell painting that had the “No Swimming” sign in the center of focus with boys (wet and in various levels of undress) running through the frame? Some of the boys had not been “caught” because they had already made it through the frame. (You could only see their heels). There are other boys that are still trying to make it into and through the frame. Apparently these boys got “caught” swimming when the others didn’t. This dandelion photo (if you envision the counter-clockwise spin that the seed stems suggest) seem to be moving the entire subject matter from right to left. Kinda gives me a sense of motion to an obviously static object.
Or….it could be a dandelion...slightly less than full frame.
